Catherine Colsher
Through my art I am inspired to explore aspects of our surroundings that are often seen but not truly savored, with a goal of transporting the viewer to a place of beauty & serenity.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Born and raised in Philadelphia, my early artwork was influenced by the city surroundings and my love of music. Although these days my choice of subject matter tends to be varied, mood, atmosphere & a sense of solitude are constants I strive for in my art.
MY MEDIUMS:
The old masters influenced me as an artist, especially the art of Rembrandt. When I was exposed to his work as a child, I instantly knew my artistic direction would include oil painting and copperplate etching. Over the years I’ve explored a variety of mediums, but ultimately I gravitated to these two very different art forms to express my visions because they were so different. Painting allows for a greater expression of color, whereas etchings are less about color & are created with the use of many drawn lines. So I find these two very different ways of working very intriguing & lend themselves to what I hope to convey through my work.
ABOUT MY "25 DAYS OF MINIS"
This year I will be offering oil paintings with a theme of "THE GOLDEN HOURS" ~ that time of day that relaxes you into a calmer place. Through my art I explore capturing that magical light that casts a glow on whatever is in its path, creating a mood that provides an escape into a tranquil world, far away from the challenges of the day.
My 25 Days Of Minis will feature a variety of sizes & include FREE shipping (contiguous US). Your purchase is also accompanied by a Certificate Of Authenticity with details about the artwork's creation.
25 DAYS BONUS ~ Purchase any painting from StudioCC.com December 1st ~ 30th for a chance to win "Daybreak", an original framed oil painting valued at $275!
