   ARTIST STATEMENT

What triggers memory? A song, a phrase, a familiar face; these are the things that I use in order for the viewer to be part of the work. Working with layers of collage and paint, I obscure,
highlight and bring forth a moment from the past. Yet each piece is a vision of present through the lens of the past.
This group of pieces brings forth images that reminds us of the battles women and minorities have been fighting for decades. Yet, these little gems of power speak to the bigger picture. That our battles for respect go back in time and should be seen as part of a longer journey.
A selection of images where the past informs our present struggles.
