Let the Past inspire your Present by looking at images that empower you in a time of social change and shift.
ARTIST STATEMENT
What triggers memory? A song, a phrase, a familiar face; these are the things that I use in order for the viewer to be part of the work. Working with layers of collage and paint, I obscure,
highlight and bring forth a moment from the past. Yet each piece is a vision of present through the lens of the past.
These collage stories are presenting the show Face Front; Empowerment and Social Change. Each small piece is powerful in their reflection of confronting the ability to fight and be empowered. Taking this power means walking together in a union of spirit, marching, taking care of home, being lifted by others; all images that bring the idea of changing our culture by using images from the past.
