"Wolf Tree"

6x12 inches

Wolf trees is an old term for big trees in the forest. In the days when the only good tree was one you could chop down and make something with, they were considered pests! The big trees weren't good for lumber- like this oak with it's low branching structure, and were thought to crowd out and steal nutrients from younger, more valuable timber. (Which is wrong).

This piece is wrapped in aluminum (not shown because I haven't wrapped it yet, since I JUST finished this piece)
