The Bump
The Bump was a very popular dance in the 1970s and one that is very easy to learn. There is the single bump and the double bump; suggested music is Brick House, or The Bump, by the Commodores or "Thats the Way I Like It" by KC and the Sunshine Band.
That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh
I like it, uh-huh, uh-huh
That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh
I like it, uh-huh, uh-huh
When you take me by the hand
Tell me I'm your loving man
When you give me all your love
And do it the very best you can
There are some suggestion that The Bump may have its origins in jive or jitterbug in the 1940s - photos from a Bob Hope USO show in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
So, do the Bump! If it’s good enough for the Marine Corps, it’s good enough for all you civilians out there.
