"Caravan" evokes a desert scene with it's sandy, neutral tones. The horizontal composition and the meandering lines suggest a journey to a faraway land. The painting has a contemporary thin, white floater frame that brings the dimensions to 12 3/8" x 12 3/8" x 1 1/2" deep. I titled it for the American jazz standard composed by Duke Ellington and Juan Tizol. The exotic sound of the song prompted it to be used in several films. The lyrics, which are rarely used, were written by Irving Mills. An excerpt is below.
