ABOUT THE WORK
"Dipsy Doodle" is a whimsical painting so I thought it needed a comical title. The red and green complimentary palette is balanced by some neutrals and muted yellows. It has a contemporary thin, white floater frame that brings the dimensions to 12 3/8" x 12 3/8" x 1 1/2" deep. The song was written by Larry Clinton and first recorded by Tommy Dorsey in 1937. Clinton came up with the melody while hanging out at the Onyx Club, a jazz club in New York City. The back of the menus were printed with blank music scores and he jotted it down on the menu.
