ABOUT THE WORK

"Surfer Girl" is the last in my beach series. Summer must come to an end here at 25 days of minis. But there's plenty of warm thoughts with the next group of paintings.

I actually took quite a few pictures of surfers this summer. But not too many of them were of girls or women. I loved how perfectly determined this girl was with the board kind of balanced on her head, walking down the beach. Surfers drift with the current and need to reposition themselves every so often so as not to get too far away from the rest of the surfer pack. I wasn't aware of this but my husband, a die-hard surfer as a kid and young adult, let me know this is how they roll.
