ABOUT THE WORK
Day 23 – Upsey Daisy
Today’s painting is inspired by the daisy’s in the beautiful flower gardens in downtown Hulett, carefully cared for by Walt, the town gardener.
I love the name of today’s painting because my mom tole me my grandmother would play the radio real loud in the morning, and Joe Flood, a Denver DJ would shout “upsey daisy.” Can you imagine how annoying that would be to wake up to every morning? Joe would repeat this phrase all morning long until you rolled out of bed. HAHA!! I love it! Thankfully, Joe retired before my sis and I were on the scene.
Today’s tidbits are pictures of downtown Hulett during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, a weeklong event. On the big day, the town closes Main Street, which is a State Hwy. The bikers can park in the center, and both sides of the streets. On Wednesday they roll into town for ‘Ham and Jam’ day. ‘Ham and Jam’ is a pig roast and music fest. For about eight hours the town of Hulett is one of the largest towns in Wyoming. FYI…the state of Wyoming population is a little over 500,000.
